No. 278-06 PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa TIME: 10:00 a.m. Council Chair Safarik and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 278-06, reports as follows: Resolution No. 278-06, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 738, dated March 6, 2006, creates an Investigator III (temporary) position and a Legal Assistant II (temporary) position for the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney. The positions will be funded by aNon-Support Prosecution grant, recently approved by the County Council, and will be used for the Non-Support Prosecution project team. The team will investigate individuals who are persistently non-compliant of child support orders and with an emphasis on individuals with "off the books" income who evade their responsibility to support their children. The Investigator III (temporary) position will provide investigative and follow-up support which is critical to the identification and development of persistent non-support cases and the Legal Assistant II (temporary) position will provide the pazalegal support for this project. Pursuant to Article V, Section 5-1.3(c), Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the Council." There was no discussion on this measure.
