4oJ„tY os N,k~i <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ..1..,~••.; <br /> ~TF U~'M•~ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. x€25 Q}6 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE RECEIPT AND EXPENDITURE OF STATE <br /> FUNDING APPROPRIATED BY THE STATE LEGISLATURE PURSUANT TO <br /> <br /> ACT 160, SESSION LAWS OF HAWAII 2006, FOR THE COQUI FROG <br /> ERADICATION AND CONTROL EFFORTS BY THE COUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Legislature enacted Act 160, Session Laws of Hawaii <br /> 2006, which appropriated, in part, $1,000,000 to the County of Hawaii towards its coqui frog <br /> eradication and control efforts; and <br /> WHEREAS, these funds will be used for: <br /> 1. Fund efforts to address coqui frog infestations, including incipient populations, and <br /> provide assistance to communities; <br /> 2. Fund community organizations and community associations' coqui frog efforts through <br /> the community mini-grant program where recipients receive up to $5,000 per award to <br /> address coqui frog infestations in their neighborhoods; and <br /> 3. Fund Coqui Frog Work Group partners' efforts via field operations, research & <br /> development, public education & community outreach, and plant quarantine & nursery <br /> inspections; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Act 160, the County will prepare a report that will focus on whether <br /> the coqui infestation on the island of Hawaii can be controlled, stopped from expanding, reduced, <br /> or eradicated, and including project timetables, projected expenditures, potential <br /> volunteer/community contributions of time and funds, and coqui population targets over time; and <br /> that it be submitted to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the 2007 <br /> regular session. <br /> <br />
