Give reasons how new duties arose (statutes enacted, ordinances, newly <br /> authorized programs, basis for increased workloads, etc.): <br /> <br /> This position is essential to achieve the Departmental Goal of providing <br /> improvements to County roads, flood control and public service facilities to <br /> support the public's transportation and safety needs in a timely manner. The <br /> purposes of this position is to increase the Department's ability to deliver Capital <br /> Improvement Program projects and design services for Highway Maintenance, <br /> Traffic, and Building Divisions. When developing our overall County CIP <br /> program and considering the County's ability to fund projects, we estimate a <br /> steady source of CIP funding combined with Fuel Tax revenues to back <br /> proposed projects. <br /> <br /> Our goal is to double the number of projects we can contract out each year for <br /> the next 10 years or until we can catch up with our deteriorating and inadequate <br /> infrastructure. <br /> <br /> 2.
