No. 1013/Bill No. 323 <br /> <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> <br /> TIME: 9:42 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 323, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 323, transmitted jointly with Resolution No. 425-06 by Director of Finance William Takaba, via <br /> Communication No. 1013, dated August 7, 2006, amends Ordinance No. 06-79, as amended, the Operating <br /> Budget, ending June 30, 2007. The amendment is as follows: <br /> From: <br /> 3305.50 Coqui Frog Eradication & Control General $1,000,000 <br /> Total $1,000,000 <br /> To: <br /> 010.111.5111.61 Coqui Frog Eradication & Control General $1,000,000 <br /> Total $1,000,000 <br /> The State of Hawaii Legislature enacted Act 160, Session Laws of Hawaii 2006, known as the Supplemental <br /> Appropriations Act of 2006, which in part, appropriated $1,000,000 to the County of Hawaii for the purpose <br /> of controlling coqui frogs. The funds will be used for coqui frog infestations and assistance to communities; a <br /> mini-grant program for community coqui eradication efforts; and Coqui Frog Work Group Partner's efforts. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b), Hawaii County Charter, the <br /> Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for the Coqui Frog Eradication & <br /> Control. <br /> Billy Kenoi, Executive Assistant to Mayor Harry Kim, stated that the funds, which follows last year's initial <br /> funding, will be split into community grants to purchase sprayers and chemicals, and to obtain matching <br /> federal and state grants.
