REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY AND PARKS AND RECREATION <br /> <br /> DATE: October 30, 2006 Re: Communication No. 1128 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Ben Franklin Bldg. <br /> 333 Kilauea Ave., 2"d Floor <br /> TIME: 1:30 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Safety and Pazks and Recreation, to which was referred <br /> Communication No.1128, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 1128, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated October 9, 2006 requests the <br /> confirmation of the appointments of Mr. Stephen P. Bowles and Mr. Bill Rosehill to the County <br /> of Hawaii Fire Commission. <br /> Mr. Bowles of Council District 1 is a lifelong resident of Hawaii and is employed as a hydro- <br /> geologist. He is a member of the Waimea Community Association's Traffic Safety Committee, <br /> Planning Committee, Community Planned Development Committee and the Waimea Water <br /> Round Table. Mr. Bowles states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, <br /> he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2010. <br /> Mr. Rosehill of Council District 7 is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. He is a retired land <br /> manager/forester and is president of the Kona Athletic Club, a member of the Hawaiian Canoe <br /> Racing Association and a boazd member of Moku O Hawaii. Mr. Rosehill states that he is not <br /> affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, <br /> 2010. <br /> Corporation Counsel Lincoln Ashida apologized for their absence as there seems to have been a <br /> miscommunication on the part of his office to properly notify them. He assured the Council that <br /> they will be present for their confirmation at full Council. <br /> Your Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and <br /> intent of Communication No. 1128 and recommends confirmation of the appointments of Mr. <br /> Stephen P.
