No. 491-06 PLACE: Council Chambers TIME: 9:00 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 491-06, reports as follows: Resolution No. 491-06, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 350 by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 1132, dated October 10, 2006, authorizes the acceptance of a monetary donation from the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund. The Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund has graciously donated $80,206 to the Hawaii County Fire Department to be used towards the purchase of rescue vehicles and associated equipment that will aid in rescue services around the island. In the current fiscal year's Operating Budget, $50,000 was already budgeted in the event that donations, gifts or other contributions were received by the Fire Department. Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property. A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund, c/o Hawaii Community Foundation, 65-1279 Kawaihea Road, Parker Square, Room 203, Kamuela, Hawaii 96743 and to the World Triathlon Corporation, 75-5722 Kuakini Highway, Kuakini Tower #101, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740-2119, acknowledging this generous donation. Some members of Your Committee requested that the amount donated by the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund be given in total each year so that the Council has an idea of how much the Sayre's have given to date.
