<br /> Pete Hoffinann, Chairman <br /> <br /> and Members of the County Council <br /> <br /> Page 3 <br /> • Provide an economic environment that allows new, expanded, or improved <br /> economic opportunities that are compatible with the County's cultural, natural and <br /> social environment. <br /> • Strive for diversification ofthe economy by strengthening existing industries and <br /> attracting new endeavors. <br /> The proposed project will be providing care and support for veterans, military <br /> personnel and their families that will significantly improve their quality of life. It will <br /> encourage the development of the retirement industry and provide a new economic <br /> environment that will provide needed services and create new job opportunities. <br /> Land Use Element: <br /> • Designate and allocate land uses in appropriate proportions and mix and in <br /> keeping with the social, cultural, and physical environments of the County. <br /> • Zone urban- and rural-types of uses in areas with ease of access to community <br /> services and employment centers and with adequate public utilities and facilities. <br /> • Allocate appropriate requested zoning in accordance with the existing or projected <br /> needs of neighborhood, community, region and County. <br /> • Encourage the development and maintenance of communities meeting the needs <br /> of its residents in balance with the physical and social environment. <br /> • Zoning requests shall be reviewed with respect to General Plan designation, <br /> district goals, regional plans, State Land Use District, compatibility with adjacent <br /> zoned uses, availability of public services and utilities, access and public need. <br /> Land Use-Public Lands Element: <br /> • Utilize publicly owned lands in the best public interest and to the maximum <br /> benefit for the greatest number of people. <br /> The proposed project will be located in a location that has adequate utilities and <br /> facilities, and will be easily accessible to the community. It will utilize public lands to <br /> provide much needed services to for veterans, military personnel and their families. <br /> <br />
