SECTION 3. Chapter 25, Article 7, "Special DisVict Regulations," Hawaii County <br /> <br /> Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), is amended by adding a new division to be appropriately <br /> <br /> designated and to read as follows: <br /> Division UNV, University District. <br /> Section Pumose and applicability. <br /> The UNV (University) District shalt analy to areas of land that are utilized <br /> for campus-related activities and is intended to apnly to areas for the location and <br /> expansion of universities and the uses and facilities that aze associated with and <br /> are supportive of them Special consideration of such uses and facilities is <br /> approariate given the unique characteristics of university azeas, the variety of uses <br /> needed to serve the university community and the varying intensity of land uses <br /> in such a community. <br /> Section Designation of UNV districts. <br /> Each UNV (LJniversitvl district shall be designated by the symbol "UNV." <br /> Section Permitted uses. <br /> (al University facilities including classrooms laboratory and research facilities, <br /> administration facilities athletic centers and facilities, auditoriums, student <br /> centers libraries museums exhibition halls cafeterias, dormitories, maintenance <br /> facilities and parking lots. <br /> (b) Limited retail and service establishments primarily intended to serve the specific <br /> needs of the student oonutation of a university and are normally associated with <br /> h~her education institutions includine, but not limited to, retail stores whose <br /> primary customers aze students or faculty of a university convenience stores, <br /> theaters restaurants recreational and amusement facilities, taverns, drug stores, <br /> book stores health clubs news stands uhotocopvine office sunalies word <br /> processing or tvaing services computer sales and service, laundries, and video <br /> rentals. <br /> (c) Housing for currently enrolled university students and their dependents and for <br /> cursent university employees and their dependents. <br /> Guest accommodations to accommodate visiting scholars and their dependents, <br /> aarents visitino their children alumni reunions, as well as narticivants in <br /> conferences and seminazs held at or sponsored by the university. <br /> Section Hei ht limit. <br /> ja1 The height limit in the UNV district shall be forty-five feet, except in those azeas <br /> designated in subsections (b) and (cl below. <br /> (bl The height limit in the City of Hilo shall be one hundred twenty feet. <br /> (c~ The height limit in those azeas desi nag <br /> ted high density urban on the general elan <br /> land use pattern allocation guide (LUPAGl map shall be nineri feet. <br /> 2 <br /> <br />
