COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> BILL NO. 5s <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (1995 <br /> EDITION), VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC, RELATING TO TEMPORARY CHANGES IN TRAFFIC <br /> CONTROLS TO EFFECTUATE TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENTS. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br /> SECTION 1. The purpose of this measure is to amend section 24-11, temporary <br /> changes to effectuate amendments, by authorizing the director of public works to extend the <br /> initial ninety-day period of a temporary traffic control, for another ninety-day period should a bill <br /> to enact an amendment remain pending beyond the initial ninety-day period. <br /> SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 2, section 24-11, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 <br /> (1995 Edition), is amended to read as follows: <br /> The director of public works of the County is hereby empowered to make <br /> changes in parking and other traffic controls for a period of ninety days as a <br /> temporary measure to effectuate the provisions of an amendment to this chapter. <br /> The director of public works may extend the period of such temporary traffic <br /> control for an additional ninety days, if a bill to enact the so effectuated <br /> amendment of this chapter remains pending before the County Council at the <br /> end of the initial ninety-day period. <br /> SECTION 3. Material to be repealed is bracketed. New material is underscored. In <br /> printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and underscoring need not be <br /> included. <br /> SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person <br /> or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of <br /> the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this <br /> end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. <br /> <br />
