Roman Catholic Church in the State of Hawaii, <br /> Office for Social Ministry <br /> Kihei Pua Emergency Shelter <br /> provides emergency housing for up to 58 individuals for 90 days. This program is a vital components <br /> of our organization's ability to provide a systematic and seamless continuum of care to our consumers, <br /> to better assist them in obtaining and retaining permanent housing and maintaining long-term <br /> economic independence and self-sufficiency. <br /> Our taraet arou~ for the Kihei Pua Emergency Shelter consists of individuals and families who are <br /> experiencing homelessness, including the unsheltered homeless, those living in emergency and <br /> transitional housing programs/shelters, and those aT-risk of homelessness. Additionally, preference is <br /> given to families, with space provided for individuals as available. <br /> Services available to participants build on extensive linkages to agencies throughout our community <br /> as well as The experience and knowledge of our own on-site staff, and consist of: transitional housing; <br /> case management, including intake, assessment, and access to services; educational and vocational <br /> Training; job placement; transportation support; a mentor program; linkages to substance abuse and <br /> mental health treatment; assistance with family unification; life skills and financial skills training; <br /> culturally appropriate activities; housing placement assistance; and one year of aftercare after <br /> placement in transitional or permanent housing. <br /> Total Budget and Position Count <br /> <br /> Total Program Budget 3,425,352.00 Total Program Position Count SN,3pt <br /> <br /> Total Agency Budget 5,703,283.00 Total Agency Position Count 63tt,25pt <br /> Program Objectives: <br /> For FY-07-08: <br /> 1. Provide 305 program participants with emergency housing and case management; <br /> 2. Maintain clean and sober housing for 100% of program participants; <br /> 3. Assisi 55% of program participants in obtaining transitional or permanent housing; <br /> 4. Assist in obtaining employment and education placement for 45 participants; <br /> 5. Assist with increased menial health and substance use Treatment for 75 participants. <br /> Program Highlights thus far in 06-07: <br /> 1. OSM assumed administration of the Kihei Pua Emergency Shelter in January 2007 at 110 <br /> Ululani Street, providing emergency housing for 58 individuals for up to 90 days. <br /> 2. Hired three (3) full-Time and two (2) part-time employees To provide case management, life <br /> skills training, and supervision To program participants. We are currently interviewing To fill <br /> the remaining positions. <br /> 3.
