This is why we get presidential <br /> disaster declarations as we did in the recent earthquake. <br /> Establish drainage improvement standards to control storm water quality <br /> and runoff. <br /> Improvements to water quality is required by Coastal Zone Act Reauthorization <br /> Amendments of 1990 (CZARA) Section 6217. The Planning Department and <br /> Public Works have approval from the EPA to use drywells and a 10-year design <br /> storm to meet the CZARA requirement. This requirement would be applicable to <br /> only those Subdivisions and developments permitted by the Planning <br /> Department. <br /> Establish requirements for structures that suffer repetitive losses due to <br /> flooding. <br /> The revisions to Chapter 27 address this matter under Repetitive Loss <br /> Structures. Repetitive loss structures will be required to provide flood proofing <br /> measures. If the structure had been insured by FEMA, the claimant may receive <br /> an additional $30,000 to cover the cost of providing these measures. <br /> Additional Answers to Questions received from the community: <br /> There was $1,000,000 set aside in last fiscal year's budget for updating <br /> FEMA mapping.
