REQUEST: <br /> Prepare a resolution for Council's authorization for the Mayor of the County of Hawaii to execute a Contract <br /> for Goods and Services with the State of Hawaii, Hawaii Department of Agriculture, to enable the County of <br /> Hawaii to use these funds to administer acost-sharing program to assist qualified nurseries and landscape <br /> companies on the Island of Hawaii to finance the construction of hot water treatment facilities for the <br /> treatment of plants and plant parts for coqui frog disinfestation. <br /> Appropriate these State funds of $125,000 to Coqui Frog cost-snaring Program. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The State of Hawaii Legislature enacted Act 160, Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2006. <br /> This Act amends Act 178, Session Laws of Hawaii 2005, and other appropriations and authorizations <br /> effective during fiscal biennium 2005-2007. <br /> $500,000 for fiscal year 2006-2007 shall be transferred by August 1, 2006, to the Department of Agriculture <br /> for coqui frog control and eradication including research. <br /> The Department of Agriculture proposes to enter into a contract with the County of Hawaii using these funds <br /> appropriated to them for coqui frog control and eradication under Act 160. <br /> The County of Hawaii shall submit to the State, a final report summarizing all costs-sharing expenditures <br /> made under the Contract by July 30, 2009. <br /> SIGNED: ~"v o~ DATE: ~I'~`°~ <br /> Department Head <br /> <br />
