Members,
I strongly, support Comm. 349: (Resolution 169-07),
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO ENTER INTO
NEGOTIATIONS FOR THE ACQUISITION OF PUNALU'U BEACH PARK, NINOLE POND AND
ADJACENT LANDS INT THE DISTRICT OF KA'U, PURSUANT TO ORDINANCE NO. 95-166
From Councilmember Bob Jacobson, dated April 17, 2007, transmitting the above resloution. This
acquisition is critical for protecting the natural resources, public access and important habitat for
endangered and protected sea turtles.
My husband and I have resided in the Ka'u district for the past thirty-five (35) years, and raised our two
daughters here. During our careers (now retired) we commuted to Kona and Hilo to work because we
chose to live here. We aze dedicated and committed to the preservation as well as the conservation of the
coastal lands of Ka'u, especially Punalu'u Beach Park, Ninole Pond and adjacent lands and urge you to
please, vote "yes" for Comm. 349,
(Resolution 169 - 07).
This stretch of shoreline described in Comm. 349, (Resolution 169-07), about 140 acres and two

thousand (2,000) feet mauka is very special with its open spaces, climate, rich cultural -historical
significance, ecological systems, rare -endangered species of flora -fauna -migratory birds -marine
life, limited stress lifestyle, and easy accessibility has provided our family, extended family, friends, as
well as all Ka'u community members, visitors from the neighbor islands, continental United States
and around the world of all ages from infants to the elderly with many opportunities. Its a place of
