CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU <br /> HONOLULU, HAWAII nf0, <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> RELATING TO THE HSAC AND NACo STATEMENT OF VALUES. <br /> WHEREAS, the National Association of Counties (NACo) has <br /> adopted a statement of values to guide NACo's efforts in helping <br /> counties define and secure their own community vision; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is proposed that the Hawaii State Association of <br /> Counties (HSAC) adopt the above-mentioned statement of values; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the statement of values recognizes that economic <br /> opportunity, environmental integrity, and societal equity are the <br /> foundation upon which counties can build a better quality of life <br /> for their citizens; and <br /> WHEREAS, the statement of values further recognizes that as <br /> locally elected representatives, county officials have a <br /> significant responsibility to provide leadership in seeking <br /> community based solutions that strengthen their own counties; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Council concurs with the sentiments expressed <br /> in the attached statement of values; and <br /> WHEREAS, the unanimous approval of all county councils is <br /> necessary for HSAC to adopt the statement of values; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City and County of <br /> Honolulu that this body approves the attached statement of <br /> values; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Hawaii State Association of <br /> Counties adopt the statement of values upon unanimous approval of <br /> all county councils; and <br /> OCSOl000.R97 <br /> <br />
