~tV Oi y <br /> L~ • <br /> ~il~i <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> • Of M~ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 249 0'7 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br /> AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF THE ATTORNEY <br /> GENERAL, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FORA "EQUIPPED TO DO BATTLE <br /> AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE" GRANT FOR THE HAWAII COUNTY POLICE <br /> DEPARTMENT <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General, Crime Prevention and <br /> Justice Assistance Division has authorized funding towards the Hawaii County Police Department's <br /> "Equipped to Do Battle Against Domestic Violence" Project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the goal of this project is to improve Hawaii Police Department's ability to <br /> effectively investigate cases involving violent crimes against women by obtaining equipment which <br /> will aid in the successful prosecution of offenders; and <br /> WHEREAS, this goal will be accomplished, not only by acquiring necessary electronic <br /> equipment to properly conduct a domestic violence investigation, but being properly trained in using <br /> the equipment; and <br /> WHEREAS, the funds provided by the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General are <br /> derived from grants provided by the federal government; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain <br /> <br /> the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting <br /> action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any <br /> funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br /> powers. <br /> <br />
