The property is located along the northeast (makai) side of Akala Road, <br /> approximately 73 feet from the Akala Road - Kaumana Drive intersection and in the vicinity of <br /> Kaumana Cave, Ponahawai, South Hilo, Hawaii, TMK: 2-5-40:18. <br /> APPLICANTS' REQUEST <br /> 1. Proposed Action: The applicants are requesting a Change of Zone from A-3a to FA-2a <br /> for 4.852 acres of land to subdivide the property into two parcels, approximately 2+ acres <br /> each. The applicants intend to construct their home on one lot and reserve the other lot <br /> for their immediate family. <br /> 2. Supportive Information: The applicants, who are the landowners, have submitted the <br /> attached in support of the request. Coastal Zone Management, HRS, Chapter 205A: The entire State of Hawaii lies <br /> within the Coastal Zone Management area. The intent of the Coastal Zone Management <br /> Program is to guide and regulate public and private uses in the coastal zone management <br /> area with respect to recreational resources, historic resources, public access to the <br /> shoreline, scenic and open space resources, coastal ecosystems, marine resources, <br /> economic uses, coastal hazazds, managing development, public participation, and beach <br /> protection. <br /> 7.
