rr or y~ <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ~7~t W~M~~' <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 295 07 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNCIL CHAIR AND THE COUNTY CLERK <br /> TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR A LEGISLATIVE LIAISON FOR THE <br /> UPCOMING STATE OF HAWAII LEGISLATIVE SESSION FOR A PERIOD NOT TO <br /> EXCEED 180 DAYS AND NOT TO EXCEED $50,000 <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii State Legislature hears legislation directly affecting Hawaii <br /> County each year; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council desires to be more responsive to matters <br /> before the Hawaii State Legislature during the regular legislative session; and <br /> WHEREAS, the timely communications between the Council and the Legislative <br /> Liaison will keep the Council informed of legislation affecting the Hawaii County; and <br /> WHEREAS, a similar position has been created for the Maui County Council, which <br /> received positive reviews from their council members, some of whom were initially critics of the <br /> program; and <br /> WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the Clerk-Council Svc S&W account (Account <br /> No. 010.101.5101.01); now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> Council Chair and the County Clerk may enter into a contract for a Legislative Liaison for the <br /> upcoming State of Hawaii Legislative session for a period not to exceed 180 days and not to <br /> exceed $50,000; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the council authorizes the mayor, on its behalf, to <br /> sign instruments requiring execution by the County as required by article V, chapter 1, section <br /> 5-1.3(g) of the Hawaii County Charter; and <br /> <br />
