ASSOCIATION OF HAWAII ISLAND BUSINESSES
r,
September 4, 2007
cn
r.-.
Council Member Pete Hoffmann
Hawaii County Council
25 Aupuni Street
Hilo, HI 96720
Deaz Council-Member Hoffman:
The safety and wellbeing of the members of our community is of utmost importance to
our organizations. In this light, we humbly ask for your support of Bill 51 as a first step
in updating our flood mitigation laws, and ask that you refrain from further support of
Bill 151.
Extensive research and interview's has led us to believe that no one can quantify the
community benefits or risks associated with Bill 151, not even the county engineers who
will be required to enforce this bill. We ask that you allow time for community input and
review by the county to identify the positive and negative implications of Bill 151 before
any further action is taken on Bill 151.
We thank you for your support and understanding.
Aloha,

Nimr Tamimi Phoebe Lambeth Bazbaza Hastings Dianne Morgado
GAC/Econ President GAC Chair GACC Chair
Development Chair Japanese Chamber Hawaii Island Portuguese
Kanoelehua of Commerce & Chamber of Chamber of
Industrial Area Industry Commerce Commerce
Association
Comm.
