M <br /> 4 <br /> y~il~ <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> •Ji ~ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 343 U'7 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY GIFT OF <br /> FORTY-NINE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($49,900) FROM THE <br /> <br /> DANIEL R. SAYRE MEMORIAL FUND TO THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> WHEREAS, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund, established by Dr. Frank and Laura Sayre <br /> in memory of their son, Daniel who lost his life in a tragic accident in Pololu Valley, annually <br /> recognizes the bravery of the Hawaii County Fire Rescue squads and provides monetary support <br /> to purchase rescue equipment; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund has presented a monetary gift of forty-nine <br /> thousand nine hundred dollars ($49,900) to the Hawaii Fire Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, these funds will be used to purchase rescue equipment (valued at <br /> approximately $37,900) and to contract an instructor for the "Ropes Course I and II" (valued at <br /> $12,000) for the rescue personnel at the Waiakea and Kailua Stations; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this <br /> donation; and <br /> WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, provides that the <br /> Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of money, securities, or other <br /> personal property or real estate or any interest in real estate. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF <br /> HAWAII, in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the Hawaii <br /> Fire Department is authorized to accept this monetary gift of forty-nine thousand nine hundred <br /> dollars ($49,900) from the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund. <br /> <br />
