REQUEST: <br /> Prepare a resolution to create two half time positions. One Park Caretaker I (3/5 Time) for the South Hilo <br /> district and one Park Caretaker I (1/2 Time) postion for the Kona district. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> During FY 2007-08 the County of Hawaii settled a lawsuit with the United Public Workers Union (UPW). Civil <br /> case #98-244 called for the County to hire UPW workers instead of contracting out for janitorial/grounds <br /> maintenance services. As such, in order to be in compliance with Civil settlement #98-244 the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation would like to create 1 Park Caretaker I (1/2 Time) position for Kona and 1 Park <br /> Caretaker I (3/5 Time) for South Hilo. <br /> Please waive Finance Committee.
