GRANT PERIOD RESULTS: <br /> <br /> ~ (FINAL REPORT) <br /> Narrative <br /> Two Click It or Ticket basketball events were held during this grant period as part of the <br /> Police Department's education and awareness campaign. The first event was held in East <br /> Hawaii at the Keaau High School Gym in May during the National Click It Or Ticket <br /> Campaign. The second event was held in Kona in August. <br /> There were seat belt and Keiki car seat and booster seat checks conducted during the <br /> events. Tee shirts and educational materials were handed out to the public. <br /> Both events combined hosted well over 600 youths and participants, and over a thousand <br /> people were in attendance. In addition: <br /> • We obtained about 600 pledges from youth and adults to wear seat belts and <br /> ensure that all occupants in their vehicles are also belted in. <br /> • An Estimated 1,600 spectators attended both events. <br /> 1``~"~ • Over 600 CIOT Tee shirts were given out to athletes, volunteers and <br /> spectators. <br /> • About 300 CIOT medals were awarded to participants. <br /> • There were 49 teams participating in West Hawaii and about 40 teams in East <br /> Hawaii. <br /> The Big Island achieved an all time high seat belt usage rate of 97.57%. The usage <br /> rate for passengers, including young adults was measured at 97.42%. The last seat <br /> belt survey was conducted by the University of Hawaii during the Summer of 2007. <br /> yrrr.' <br /> <br />
