• Affected 26 OVUII arrests in the fourth quarter. <br /> Affected 35 arrests, to include 30 OVUII arrests, during fiscal year on <br /> grant funded projects. <br /> New emergency lighting for our Traffic Enforcement Unit is being <br /> utilized on all vehicles and is proving to be very successful in catching <br /> speeders and reckless drivers. Except for the lights, the vehicle is totally <br /> unmarked. <br /> Emergency lighting for six vehicles have been be installed in the <br /> remaining Traffic Enforcement vehicles during this grant period. <br /> (refer to attached news article) <br /> We attained and surpassed all five strategy indicators for this grant period. The number <br /> of speed enforcement projects conducted, citations issued and arrest made were attained. <br /> Arrests, including those for OVUII were above that of our original goal. <br /> Projects focusing on illegal road racing and speeding on specific mentioned highways <br /> <br /> 1~ were also conducted resulting in investigations for racing on highways, reckless driving, <br /> excessive speeding citations and arrests, also OVUII arrests under 21. <br /> There was a total of 847 speeding citations issued in the district of Puna and 1,192 in <br /> Hilo. There were 6,522 speeding citations issued this fiscal year on the Big Island <br /> utilizing grant and county funds. <br /> <br />
