DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: FY 98-99 REQUEST <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />DISCUSSION RE: PRIOR FY 96-97 AND FY 97-98 <br />1. WITH RESPECT TO YOUR INDIVIDUAL PROGRAMS AND YOUR CURRENT AND PRIOR FY'S OBJECTIVES, <br />IS THERE ANYTHING THAT IS PREVENTING OR HINDERING YOU FROM ACCOMPLISHING YOUR <br />OBJECTIVES? <br />a. EMS <br />Decrease in State revenues have caused State Department of Health to cut and <br />streamline EMS programs. <br />b. Fire Prevention <br />Unfilled vacancies are causing the Prevention Bureau from fulfilling its <br />objectives. The work load is not allowing time for training of the public, <br />institutions, and other building officials. <br />C. Training <br />Because of inadequate staffing and lack of training sites, it is becoming more <br />difficult to fully accomplish all the activities that are required of the <br />Training Division. <br />d. Volunteer Training <br />None. <br />2_ LIST MAJOR DEPARTMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN FY 96-97 AND FY 97-98. <br />a. Fire Protection <br />(1) Computers for all stations. <br />(2) Created a Captain position to assist the Battalion Chief in EMS functions. <br />b. EMS <br />12 <br />
