BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Firemans Fund Insurance has a grant program called "Fireman's Fund Heritage", which issues funds to
fire departments throughout the United States for various needs. The Hawai'i Fire Deparment (HFD) was
granted $18,199 from this program. Funds will be utilized to update the training libraries at each of the 20
fire stations on the island. These libraries include books, DVDs, and training manuals to help support the
ongoing training needs of Hawaii County's firefighters. With each passing year, new editions of books and
updated training guides come out which can be excessively expensive to buy. Once this resolution is
approved and the "Grant Compliance Agreement" signed, the grantor will present a check for the stated
amount.
