Although the proliferation of laws dealing with procurement, civil service, unions, environmental protection, etc. make it very time consuming <br />to develop projects. <br />2 LIST MAJOR DEPARTMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN FY 96-97 AND FY 97-98 <br />See attached. <br />3. WHAT EMERGING TRENDS OR ISSUES PARTICULAR TO YOUR DEPARTMENT MAY IMPACT YOUR BUDGET OR <br />OPERATIONS? <br />• Privatization <br />• Consolidation of State/County functions <br />• Compliance with ADA requirements <br />• Banning of cesspools and septic tanks; extension of County sewers & effluent reuse <br />• Alternative methods of solid waste processing other than landfilling <br />• Increased regulatory requirements and oversight in areas such as wetlands, non -point source pollution, groundwater monitoring, archaeological <br />and cultural issues, endangered species act, critical habitats, etc. <br />
