No. 842/Res. 442-07 <br /> PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa <br /> 78-128 Ehukai Street <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 8:56 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works & Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred in <br /> Communication 842, regarding Resolution 442-07, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution 442-07, transmitted by Council member J Yoshimoto, via Communication 842, dated <br /> December 4, 2007, supporting H.R. 676 that would establish the United States National Health Insurance Act. <br /> Congressman John Conyers, Jr. introduced H.R. 676 that would establish a unique American universal health <br /> insurance program with single-payer financing. The purpose of H.R. 676 is to ensure that all Americans will <br /> have access, guaranteed by law, to the highest quality and most cost effective health care services regardless of <br /> their employment, income, or health care status. <br /> There was a single testifier in support of the proposed resolution. <br /> Council Member J Yoshimoto seeks the support of his colleagues on the proposed resolution. <br /> Council Member Yoshimoto further stated reviewing of bill H.R. 676 is available on Congressman <br /> John Conyers, Jr. website. Several Council Members expressed the importance of supporting our <br /> U.S. Legislators in their efforts on addressing our nation's crisis on healthcare.
