No. 869 <br /> <br /> PLACE: Council Room <br /> Ben Franklin Building <br /> 333 Kilauea Avenue, 2"d Floor <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 1:00 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 869, reports as <br /> follows: <br /> Communication No. 869 from Mayor Harry Kim, dated December 10, 2007, nominates the <br /> following individuals to the Hawaii County Planning Commission: <br /> Council District 9 - Lani L. Bowman, is a lifelong resident of Hawaii and works as an <br /> Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) tutor at Kohala Middle School and involved <br /> in many planning efforts within the North Kohala District. Ms. Bowman is a Republication and, <br /> if confirmed, will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2012. <br /> Council District 3 -Shelly H. A. Ogata, is a 36-year resident of Hawaii and currently works as <br /> a loan consultant at Home Loan Hawai`i.com, lnc. Ms. Ogata is also the current chairperson of <br /> the State Council on Mental Health, and member of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health <br /> Task Force. Ms. Ogata served out the remaining term of a previous commission member who <br /> resigned from a term that ended on December 31, 2007. Pursuant to a recent Charter <br /> amendment, Ms. Ogata is eligible for reappointment to another term and has been re-nominated. <br /> Ms. Ogata states she is not affiliated with any political party and, if confirmed, her new term will <br /> expire on December 31, 2012. <br /> Pursuant to Section 13-4, Hawaii County Charter, the Hawaii County Planning Commission <br /> shall consist of members appointed by the mayor, and confirmed by the council. <br /> At the January 8, 2008 Planning Committee meeting, statement in support of Ms. Bowman and <br /> Ms. Ogata was presented by Corporation Counsel Lincoln Ashida. <br /> Council Chair Pete Hoffmann noted that Ms. Bowman will make an outstanding representative <br /> of Council District 9 on the Planning Commission. <br /> PC Report No. 60 <br /> <br />
