<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> To: Hawaii County Council <br /> <br /> RE: TESTIMONY IN SUPPORT OF BILL 224 <br /> Rclating To Prohibition of Smoking In Certain Places <br /> <br /> Council Hearing: February 21, 2008 <br /> <br /> <br /> Aloha Hawaii County Council, <br /> <br /> My name is Emmarie Calma and I am a senior at Kealakehe High School. <br /> <br /> I strongly support Bill 224 to prohibit the use to tobacco products at all Hawaii county <br /> parks and beaches. <br /> <br /> I want Bill 224 to be passed because the cigarette butts are extremely dangerous to small <br /> children who play on the beach with the sand or who play at the parks. I would also like <br /> Bill 224 because when smoking is exposed in public areas younger children may thinks <br /> it's okay to smoke when really its hazardous and not okay. <br /> <br /> We have already passed the no smoking in restaurants or near businesses, now it's time to <br /> please step up and pass Bill 224 because the beaches and parks are a place where people <br /> come to relax and have fun not to choke on cigarette butts or cigarette smoke. <br /> Mahalo, <br /> Emmarie Calma <br />
