<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Kohala Ditch has since the early 1900s provided water irrigation to <br /> North Kohala farmlands; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Kohala Ditch was seriously damaged during the 2006 Kiholo <br /> earthquake, diminishing its output severely; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Kohala Ditch Project, a pumping / irrigation project initiated to help <br /> maintain water supply to North Kohala farmlands, is now vital in sustaining no less than 17 dairy <br /> farmers and ranchers; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Kohala Ditch Project has requested from District 9 that funds be <br /> appropriated to their cause in order to help preserve reliable and effective water supply for <br /> agricultural North Kohala lands prior to and in case of regional disaster; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the North Kohala Community Resource Center; a 501(c)(3) non-profit <br /> organization will act as fiscal sponsor for the Kohala Ditch; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to <br /> Civil Defense Agency, to be used to fund the overall technical and development efforts to <br /> maintain water supply in North Kohala agricultural lands; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount be and is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br /> FUND: GENERAL <br /> <br /> AMOUNT OF <br /> APPROPRIATION: $15,000 <br /> <br /> OUT AND FROM: <br /> <br /> 010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC-Contingency Relief $15,000 <br /> <br /> CREDITED TO: <br /> <br /> 010.241.5241.02 Civil Defense Agency $15,000 <br /> Civil Defense Age OCE <br /> (Kohala Ditch) <br />
