No. 1016/Bill 246 <br /> <br /> PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa <br /> 78-128 Ehukai St. <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 9:37 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works & Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred in <br /> Communication 1016, regarding Bill 246, reports as follows: <br /> Bi11245, transmitted by Director of Public Works, Bruce McClure, via Communication No. 1016, <br /> dated February 1, 2008, amends Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 2, Section 24-264, Schedule 12 (Stop <br /> intersections), subsection (c) South Hilo, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as <br /> amended), by adding Haili Street, Kapi`olani Street Intersection, All Approaches. <br /> There was no testimony from the public on this proposed amendment. <br /> Council Member Donald Ikeda stated he supports this proposed amendment to increase safety for <br /> motorists and pedestrians in this area. <br /> Mr. Ron Thiel, Traffic Divison Chief, appeared before your Committee and stated that currently the <br /> Hawaii Police Department is directing traffic before and after school.
