REQUEST:

Request to amend Ordinance 07-83 Capital Improvement Budget, as amended by Ordinance 07-156 and
08-16, to increase County appropriation for the following project:

Queen Lili'uokalani Village LCC Replacement (110.699.5696.10.115) - County from $900,000 to
$1,300,000.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):

A Project Data/Financial Impact Statement is attached.

Additional funding of $400,000 is requested to install a portion of the Queen Lili'uokalani Village on-site
sewer collection system along Palani Road. Installation will be performed in conjunction with the Palani
Road Safety Improvements Project (Job No. P-3727) that is currently underway by the Department of Public
Works.
1) Installation of approximately 1,400 feet of sewer line at the Palioholo Street Intersection under the
Department of Public Works improvement project will realize a cost savings on excavation to the Queen
Lili'uokalani Village LCC project. In addition, installation of the sewer line ahead of scheduled
construction will eliminate future disturbance to the current improvements under the Department of Public
Works project.

2) Installing this portion of sewer now in conjunction with the Department of Public Works project reduces
future traffic disruption and public safety issues at the Palioholo intersection. The remaining sewer lines
planned for Palani Road will be outside the traffic corridor.

SIGNED: DATE: v' lv 6 $
Department Head

C1Documents and Settings\rbauman.000NTYOFHAWAII\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK2E\080307 CIP Update (1).doc
