PROJECT MANAGEMENT <br /> <br /> <br /> There are no paid staff positions. All labor is "kokua" with the exception of the adult supervision <br /> necessary for the "reverse mentoring" program. Two computer-literate teachers have already volun- <br /> teered for the position at $10/hour rather than standard teacher's pay. They will be paid through an <br /> outside "temp" agency (cost to the project--$14/hour). <br /> <br /> The technical management of the computer network is Ron Borden, owner/operator of Pahntree <br /> Computer Solutions in Ocean View, Ka'u. Mr. Borden has been in the computer business since the <br /> early eighties in both hardware and software development. He is the only Microsoft Certified System <br /> Engineer on the Big Island. He recently set up a forty station network in California. <br /> <br /> Project coordinator is Ed Yokoyama, Hawaii County Parks & Recreation District Supervisor and <br /> Charlene Hart is the Ka'u Onuncil community liaisonh. Ms. Hart has been the Dept of Education <br /> Literacy Coordinator for the Ka' u District for the last four years, under Hilo Community School for <br /> Adults. Prior to this, she was the Ka' u Family Center Coordinator for two years. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> VII. COORDINATION WITH OTHER COMMUNITY AGENCIES <br /> AND RESOURCES <br /> <br /> <br /> For the many, many partnerships associated with the Kokua Ka'u project, <br /> SEE ALSO SECTION JIB - SEE ALSO SECTION IIC - SEE ALSO SECTION IID. <br /> <br /> <br /> All community resources come together at the Ka' u Council. In addition to the partnerships listed <br /> earlier in this proposal, collaborations have begun with various other fenders. <br /> <br /> • DBEDT-CBED is considering a Training Tools grant. <br /> <br /> • Hilo Community School for Adults will purchase th@ educational software. <br /> <br /> • Talks have begun with Alu Like on Oahu. <br /> <br /> • A $3,000 Atherton automation grant will be pursued for the "super computer" needed. <br /> <br /> Looking ahead: <br /> • Hawaii Community Foundation's Hawaf i Technical Assistance Network <br /> • Kellogg's Managing Information with Rural America <br /> • Famiy, Literacy grant <br /> <br /> 14 <br />
