<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> James Arakaki, Chairman <br /> March 17, 1998 <br /> Page 2 <br /> <br /> Under New Business, the Executive committee referred both the proposed HSAC <br /> Annual Budget and a memorandum on the appointment of HSAC Officers for fiscal <br /> year 1998-1999 to the County Councils. Since the Hawaii County Council is <br /> currently considering the proposed HSAC Annual Budget by separate <br /> communication, it needs only to consider the appoint one of its members to <br /> serve as an officer of HSAC. It is requested that the Hawaii County Council <br /> appointed one of its members to serve as an officer of HSAC for fiscal year <br /> 1998-1999. It is further requested that an alternate be also appointed <br /> (Attached, action requested). <br /> Finally under New Business, the Executive Committee recommended that Hawaii <br /> commit to an early endorsement of Xavier Gonzales, Candidate for NACo 2nd Vice <br /> President. Members of HSAC who have attended the NACo and WIR Conferences <br /> have all had the opportunity to meet both candidates. Members of the <br /> Executive Committee have found Xavier to be a better candidate. Further, in <br /> keeping with traditional practices, Hawaii has always committed its first <br /> round votes to the candidate from a WIR state. <br /> The next HSAC Executive Committee Meeting is planned for May 8, 1998. There <br /> being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> Attachments <br />
