The department will be hiring a consultant to do an assessment and update of the economic assumptions, framework and elements of the plan. The 1997-98 FY budget included $50,000 to do such a contract. However, in our negotiations with the potential consultant, we are informed that the current appropriation is inadequate to cover the contract cost. We have requested that the 1998-99 FY budget include an additional $100,000 for consultant services, $25,000 of which would be added to the current appropriation of $50,000 to complete the economic study. Therefore, in order to authorize the payment of funds from FY 1998-99, the attached resolution is being submitted for the County Council's consideration.
