(6) Any roof sign; <br /> (7) Any automated sign including signs with repeated or changeable commercial <br /> advertising; <br /> (8) Any aerial sign; <br /> (9) Any sign placed on a utility pole; <br /> (10) Portable signs; <br /> (11) Flashing signs; <br /> (12) Any sign placed on a tree. <br /> Section 3-9. ExeYnpt signs. <br /> <br /> {a) The following types of signs are exempt from all of the provisions of this article except for <br /> the requirements of sections: 3-5; 3-6; 3-7; 3-8(a)(1); 3-8(a)(3); 3-8(a)(4); 3-30, 3-31, 3-35 <br /> and 3-37 through 3-43, and may be erected without a permit: <br /> (1) Certain temporary signs, which must be removed within 72 hours of the completion of <br /> the event or activity to which it refers, and which includes: <br /> (A) Real Estate Signs. Any single, unlighted sign not exceeding 32 square feet in area <br /> advertising the sale, rental or lease of the commercial/industrial premises on <br /> which the sign is displayed; or any single, unlighted sign not exceeding 6 square <br /> feet in area advertising the sale, rental, or lease of the residential or agricultural <br /> premises on which the sign is displayed; provided that only one sign is permitted <br /> to be visible to traffic proceeding in any one direction on any one street or <br /> highway. Note that completion of a real estate event is assumed to be the closing <br /> of the escrow on subject property following sale, at which time any sign must be <br /> removed subject to the 72-hour provision. <br /> (B) Any small unlighted sign not exceeding two square feet in area,displayed once in a <br /> calendar year for a period of time not to exceed 30 consecutive days. <br /> (C) Temporary signs or banners not exceeding 32 square feet in area, limited in <br /> number to one per meeting or event, displayed for a period not exceeding thirty <br /> calendar days, and not projecting over a public street or highway. Temporary signs <br /> are not permitted for regular, ongoing commercial use (i.e. sandwich boards and <br /> banners).
