We have four water commitments. The only objection to our Zone change was from Department of Public Works (DPW) wanting us to improve Kamaoa Road in front of our property, i.e., widen it to 20 feet, etc., at prohibitable expense to us. Subsequently, it was learned that gas tax funds were to be incre- mentally available to improve Kamaoa Road (COPY #1). It has been our understanding that the DPW conditions would be removed when the road improvement by the County was complete. Last May I wrote to DPW (COPY #2). There was no response until after I made two follow-up calls; the 1st to Stanley Nakasone. The 2nd was to Casey Yanagihara in July, during which I learned that a relief on the imposed requirments could be granted with a variance by the Planning Department. Then the letter from Galen. Kuba was received (COPY #3). After all this time of waiting for the County to improve the road, it is most frustrating, to say the least, to now learn that the work done by it is not as good as to what would be required of us. Please consider this a request for a variance to relieve the requirements imposed by DPW. Thank you. Yours truly, STANLEY L.
