Support for Early Endorsement of Xavier Gonzales, Candidate for <br /> NACo 2nd Vice President <br /> The Executive Committee recommended that Hawaii commit to an early <br /> endorsement of Xavier Gonzales, Candidate for NACO 2nd Vice <br /> President. members of HSAC who have attended the NACo and WIR <br /> Conferences have all had the opportunity to meet both candidates. <br /> Members of the Executive Committee have found Xavier to be a <br /> better candidate. Further, in keeping with traditional practices, <br /> Hawaii has always committed its first round votes to the candidate <br /> from a WIR state. <br /> E. Request for a $1,000 advance for the 1998 Year-End Conference. <br /> The Executive Committee approved a request for a $1,000 advance to <br /> Maui County for seed money for the 1998 Year-End Conference. <br /> Treasurer Smith requested that a hard copy of this request be sent <br /> to him for purposes of financial documentation. <br /> F. New Millennium Project. <br /> Mr. Gig Greenwood, briefed the Executive Committee on his <br /> Millennium project. Celebrations welcoming in the New Millennium <br /> are being planned beginning at 2:00 A. M., December 31,1999 and <br /> continue for 22 hours until midnight, December 31, 1999. The <br /> Executive Committee requested to be kept abreast of this project <br /> and will be bringing this project to the attention of NACo. <br /> VIZ. COMMUNICATIONS <br /> The following communications were placed on file: <br /> 1. From Dennis Nakamura, HSAC First Vice President, to <br /> President Mansho, dated January 2, 1998, regarding Alcohol- <br /> and Substance-Abuse Testing Policy for County Elected <br /> Officials. <br /> 2. From Councilmember Rene Mansho to HSAC Executive Committee, <br /> dated March 13, 1998, regarding the financial report for the <br /> 1997 Mid-Year HSAC Conference. The total was corrected to <br /> read $5,382.71. <br /> VIII. ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> The next HSAC Executive Committee will be on May 8, 1998 in Honolulu. <br /> IX.
