The Hawai'i Fire <br /> Department was granted $14,700, from this program, to purchase air purifying respirators <br /> for SCBAs and used by firefighters in high sulfur dioxide conditions as with the current <br /> volcanic activity. <br /> <br /> Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the <br /> funds into the Fireman's Fund Grant account. <br /> In order to purchase the respirators for immediate use because of the current volcanic <br /> activity, the Hawai'i Fire Department is requesting a waiver from the Finance Committee and <br /> to have this resolution and bill heard at the next Council meeting scheduled for <br /> June 2, 2008. <br /> <br /> If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawai'i Fire Department. <br /> <br /> V~ <br /> <br /> William Takab <br /> Director of Finance <br /> APPROVED: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Harry Kim <br /> Y Mayor <br /> <br /> Enc. <br /> Gomm.
