chains must contract with their suppliers as much as five years in advance, in order to be assured
of sufficient production.

I have spoken to some market chains about the possibility of purchasing local products.
They have assured me they would be interested in purchasing local products if they could be

assured of ample quantity and quality to satisfy their customers needs. The question again returns
to enabling the smaller potential producers to obtain financing to start an operation which could
eventually supply the markets with their needs

It is my belief that the markets would commit a percentage of tllCn purchases to suppliers
within the state, if they were assured of consistent productivity This would lend creditability to
the establishment of small farms, which would in the beginning be able to supply a small amount of

the market's needs. It is my hope that with agreements between potential growers and potential
buyers that the banking and financing industry could make hinds available to small beginning
farmers. I would ask the financial institutions to research any possible way in which they could
either underwrite or in some way furnish financing for these small operations.

I realize there are numerous sources for financing but most of them have been based upon
either past record or known expertise and ability to create different products. In many of the
instances in which there needs to be some commitment, than has been no past history or record on

which to base any projection, and the expertise for doing man} of those projects falls short of what
might be considered necessary. In essence what I am asking is that the banking or tinaucial
institutions look into the various methods of financing such as the Small Business Administration,

the agricultural banking facility or to some instances, private capital willing to back such a
venture. I world welcome any assistance or help that l might get from any financial institution
which would help to bring about the creation of the programs that I will be presenting throughout
this analytical projection.

5
