09.02.98 \VED 09:50 FAX 8083265697 002
CO
Councilman Curtis Tyler `• v C7 •
77-6399 Nalani St. 4104 C9UMc`'' ry -
Kailua-Kona, HI . 96740 'CI eie
rC J J
W
r-,
September 1 , 1998 =i
Dear Curtis , •
cc
I am writing this letter to you on behalf of our family . As you
know, our family has lived along the lower portion of Kaloko Drive
since 1968 . My mother , Patricia Burla , is now 81 years old and
she has seen a lot of changes in Kona since the late 60 ' s .
We have an 8 acre family farm situated approximately 800 to
900 linear feet from the intersection of Kaloko Drive and the
Mamalahoa highway. In the past , there wasn 't much traffic to
be concerned with along Kaloko Drive because the large acreage
lots in the forest "of Kaloko were c;, iginally a minimum of 20
acres and larger. Originally, in tae early 70 ' , all of these
lots in the Kaloko Mauka Subdivision were part of an Improvement
District Bond which I believe was finally paid off in the mid 80 ' s.
Soon after the bond was paid off , there were new changes that -
occurred in the Kaloko Mauka subdivision . Zoning changes were
allowed, Ohana permits issued and condominiumization of large .
parcels of agriculturally zoned lan7) seemed to affect many of the
parcels of land located in the plat maps of Zone 7 Section 3 and
plats 24, 25, and 26 respectively. ?y family' s property is in plat
3 which abuts the improvement district beginning in plat 24 of the
Kaloko Mauka Subdivision .
