Arakaki Ctwnty Covncjl ~ - <br /> and Members of the County Council <br /> County of Hawaii <br /> Hilo, HI 96720 <br /> Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members: <br /> <br /> It is my pleasure to submit the nomination of Robert H. <br /> Makuakane of Ka'u, to the Hawaii County Water Commission, to <br /> replace Anna Cariaga of Ka'u, whose term expired on <br /> December 31, 1997. <br /> Mr. Makuakane is a 54-year resident of Hawaii and is presently <br /> retired. Prior to his retirement, he served as an Executive <br /> Assistant to Mayor Stephen Yamashiro (1993-1997), was a Hawaii <br /> County Council Member (1988-1992), and a Hawaii County Police <br /> Officer (1971-1988). He is involved in community activities, <br /> being the President of the Ka'u Community Association, a member <br /> of the Ka'u Band Booster Club and serves as a coach for various <br /> athletic activities. He is a registered Democrat. <br /> If approved, Mr. Makuakane will serve a term to end on <br /> December 31, 2002.
