NO. 322 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 9:05 a m. <br /> Chairperson and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 322 <br /> and attached Bill No. 91, reports as follows: <br /> The purpose of Bill No. 91 is to establish speed limits ranging from 25 mph to 40 mph along <br /> Kamaoa Road between South Point Road and Route ] 1. <br /> <br /> Bill No. 91 would amend chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24-255, schedule 3 <br /> <br /> (25 mile per hour limit), subsection (g) Puna, by adding the following item to be appropriately <br /> numbered: <br /> Kamaoa Road. from Route 11 to a point 0.4 mile west." <br /> <br /> Bill No. 91 would also amend chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24-256, schedule 4 <br /> <br /> (30 mile per hour limit), subsection (g) Puna, by adding the following item to be appropriately <br /> numbered: <br /> Kamaoa Road. from a point 0.4 mile west of Route I 1 for a distance of 2.6 miles <br /> towards South Point Road." <br /> In addition, Bill No. 91 would amend chapter 24, article l0, division 1, section 24-259, schedule <br /> 7 (40 mile per hour limit), subsection (g) Puna, by adding the following item to be appropriately <br /> <br /> numbered: <br /> Kamaoa Road. from a point 3 miles west of Route 1 ] to South Point Road." <br /> Communication No. 322 is a letter from Chief Engineer Donna Fay K Kiyosaki, dated <br /> May ]9, 1997, which transmits Bill No. 91 to the Council for its consideration. The <br /> Communication notes that after conducting a speed study, the Department found speeds ranging <br /> <br /> from 25 to 40 mph to be appropriate speed limits for this road. <br /> <br />
