COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTLON NO. '734 0~ <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAI`1 DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, <br />STATE CIVIL DEFENSE, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR THE PUBLIC SAFETY <br />INTEROPERABLE COMMUNICATIONS GRANT <br />WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Preparedness Directorate, U.S. <br />Department of Commerce, and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration had <br />jointly awarded a Public Safety Interoperable Communications Grant to the State of Hawaii; and <br />WHEREAS, thereafter, the State of Hawaii Legislature enacted Act 158, Session Laws of <br />Hawaii 2007, also cited as the Supplemental Appropriation Act of 2008, which appropriated funding <br />for the matching requirement to that federal grant; and <br />WHEREAS, each County is to receive a portion of the federal grant and the state's matching <br />requirement funds; and <br />WHEREAS, the Public Safety Interoperable Communications Grant is intended to provide the <br />County of Hawaii with enhanced Interoperable communications with respect to voice, data, and/or <br />video signals; and <br />WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii will receive and use their share of the Federal funding and <br />the State matching requirement portion to administer the investment for Interoperable Channel, Radio <br />over Internet Protocol Interface and Data Channel; and <br />WHEREAS, this project will add one island wide radio channel in each of the 22 repeater sites <br />and enhance police and fire facilities internal communications equipment, and will establish Radio <br />over Internet Protocol at multiple points (2PSAPS), and at the County's fire and police stations and <br />emergency operating center; and <br />WHEREAS, it will also support enhanced data connectivity by establishing T-1 lines from the <br />DS3 microwave links that currently support connectivity to the Hawaii County Fire and Police <br />Departments; and <br />
