REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PLANNING <br /> DATE: November 17, 1998 Re: C-1063 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 3:00 p.m. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 1063 transmitted by <br /> Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro dated November 2, 1998, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 1063 recommends the appointment of the following individual to the Water <br /> Commission to serve a term ending December 31, 2001: <br /> Mr. Glenn Y. Kuwaye, of no political affiliation, will fill the vacancy created by the <br /> resignation of Mr. C. Kenneth Sowden, who accepted the position of Deputy Director of <br /> Parks and Recreation. <br /> Mr. Kuwaye, alife-time resident of Hilo, has been employed by Allied Aggregates <br /> Corporation since 1972, and presently serves as its president. <br /> Pursuant to Section 8-2 of the Hawaii County Charter, the mayor shall appoint members to the <br /> Water Commission to be confirmed by the Council, as prescribed in Section 13-4 ofthe Hawaii <br /> County Charter. <br /> Mr. Kuwaye stated that this is the first Commission he is serving on, and is aware of his duties as <br /> a Commissioner. He is also aware of the drought situations on the island, and has previously <br /> dealt with some agricultural problems involving Parker Ranch. <br /> Your Committee on Planning recommends the approval of the appointment of <br /> Mr. Glenn Y.
