WHEREAS, suicide is the third leading cause of death in 15-19 year olds, and 90% of <br />teens who die by suicide have a treatable mental illness at the time of death, most often <br />depression; and <br />WHEREAS, the conference's target group for prevention of teen dating violence, <br />depression, and suicide will be students, teachers, advisors, and counselors from West Hawaii <br />high schools, and middle schools, which the primary conference speaker will be Dr. Jill Murray <br />from California; and <br />WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to <br />the Office of the Mayor to be used towards the Committee on Status of Women for Teen Dating <br />Violence, Depression, and Suicide Prevention conference; now, therefore, <br />BE iT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br />following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />FUND: General <br />AMOI!NT OF <br />APPROPRIATION: $15,000 <br />OUT AND FROM: <br />010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $15,000 <br />CREDITED TO: <br />010.111.5115.20 Office of Mayor $15,000 <br />Committee on Status of Women <br />(Teen Dating Violence conference) <br />
