Hawaii 96720 <br />Phone (808)961-8288 • Fax (808)961-8742 <br />September 18, 2008 <br />Pete Hoffmann, Chairman <br />and Members of the County Council <br />County of Hawaii <br />333 Kilauea Avenue, 2nd Floor <br />Hilo, HI 96720 <br />Dear Chairman Hoffmann and Council Members: <br />Change of Zone Application (REZ 08-000080) <br />Applicant: Raymond and Jane Otomo <br />Request: RS-15 to RS-10 <br />Tax Map Kew 3-6-8:2 <br />The Planning Commission, after a duly held public hearing on September 4, 2008, voted to <br />recommend for your approval the proposed legislative bill for a change of zone from a Single <br />Family Residential - 15,000 square foot (RS-15) to a Single Family Residential - 10,000 square <br />foot (RS-10) zoned district for approximately 22,366 square feet of land. The property is located <br />on the south side of Puualaea Homestead Road, near the intersection with Spencer Road, <br />Manowaiopae Homestead, North Hilo, Hawaii. <br />The Commission concurs with the following Planning Director's reasons for recommending <br />favorable consideration of the change of zone: <br />The applicants are requesting a change of zone from Single-Family Residential - <br />15,000 square feet (RS-15) to Single-Family Residential - 10,000 square feet (RS-10) to <br />subdivide the property into two lots. One lot will be approximately 10,701 square feet in <br />size and will retain an existing single-family dwelling. The second lot will consist of <br />approximately 11,665 square feet, which will include a 1,399 square foot, 15-foot wide <br />access easement.
