REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PLANNING <br /> DATE: January 6, 1998 Re: C-630 <br /> PLACE; Councilroom <br /> TIME: 2:41 p.m. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 630 transmitted by <br /> Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro dated December 11, 1997, reports as follows: <br /> The purpose of Communication No. 630 is to recommend the appointment of the following <br /> individuals as members of the Hawaii Redevelopment Agency (HRA): <br /> Ms. Aileen Lum, of no political affiliation, to fill the vacancy created by Ms. Janice <br /> Harvey Yee who resigned for personal reasons, for a term ending December 31, 2000. <br /> Ms. Lum, a life-time resident of Hawaii, has been employed as the Court Administrator <br /> of the Judiciary, State of Hawaii since 1987. She recently served as a member of the <br /> Hawaii County Board of Ethics. <br /> Mr. David K. Reed, a Democrat, to fill the vacancy created by Mr. Randolph A. Rohner <br /> whose term expired, for a term ending December 31, 2002. <br /> Mr. Reed, a 40-year resident of Hawaii, has been the owner of Petroglyph Press Ltd. <br /> since 1974. <br /> Pursuant to Chapter 53 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the members of the HRA shall be <br /> appointed by the mayor with the approval of the council. <br /> Both Ms. Lum and Mr. Reed were not present at today's meeting; however, Mr. Rudy Legaspi <br /> assured Your Committee that they both would attend the January 16, 1998 Council meeting. <br /> Your Committee on Planning recommends the approval of the appointments of Ms. Aileen Lum <br /> and Mr. David K.
