COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 8®5 ®8 <br />RESOLUTION ABOLISHING A TRAFFIC TECHNICIAN II POSITION AND <br />CREATING AN ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN POSITION WITHIN THE <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS' TRAFFIC DIVISION <br />WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor <br />has the power to "Create positions...forwhIch appropriations have been made by the council and <br />abolish positions with the consent of the council."; and <br />WHEREAS, within the Department of Public Works' Traffic Division, a Traffic Technician II <br />position, Position No. 00-04797, was initially created to assist with monitoring traffic signals and <br />working on the Intelligent Transportation System project; and <br />WHEREAS, after a review of skills and knowledge required for the position and required <br />training necessary, it was determined that there is a greater need for more technical skills and <br />abilities in the electronics field; and <br />WHEREAS, by having an Electronics Technician, BC-10, position, instead of the Traffic <br />Technician II position, there would be greater support of the Intelligent Transportation System <br />project and other projects developed by the Research and Development Section within the Traffic <br />Division; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works is requesting that Position No. 00-04797, <br />Traffic Technician ll, SR-15, position be abolished and that an Electronics Technician, BC-15, <br />position be created; and <br />WHEREAS, funds will become available in the Traffic Division Regular Salaries and Wages <br />Account, upon the abolishment of the Traffic Technician II position. <br />
