No. 1552/Res. No. 805-08 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 805-08, reports as follows: Resolution No. 805-08, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 1552, dated October 21, 2008, requests the abolishment a Traffic Technicial II position, and creates an Electronics Technician position within the Department of Public Works. The Department of Public Works is requesting the abolishment of a Traffic Technician II position, number 00-4797, and create an Electronics Technician position for the Traffic Division. After a review of skills and knowledge required for the Traffic Technician II position, along with necessary required training, it was determined that there is a greater need for more technical skills and abilities in the electronics field. In having the Electronics Technician position, there would be greater support of the Intelligent Transportation System project and other projects developed by the Research and Development Section within the Traffic Division. There was no discussion on this measure. Pursuant to Article V, Section 5-1.3(c), Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...forwhkh appropriations have been made by the Council."
