REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PLANNING <br /> DATE: April 1, 1997 Re: C-201 ' <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 2:35 p.m.. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 201 transmitted by <br /> Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro dated March 7, 1997, reports as follows: <br /> The purpose of Communication No. 201 is to recommend the appointment of the following <br /> individual as a member of the Hawaii Redevelopment Agency (HRA): <br /> Mr. George Martin, a Democrat, is nominated to fill a vacancy of this recently activated <br /> entity, for a term ending October 16, 2001. <br /> Mr. Martin, alife-time resident of Hawaii, is presently aself-employed farmer. Prior to <br /> that he was a real estate agent for Brilhante Hawaii (1986-1991) and the International <br /> Vice-President of the [LWU (197] 983). His community activities include membership <br /> to the Kalanianaole School foundation, the Saddle Road Task Force and the Hawaii <br /> Export Nursery Association. <br /> Pursuant to Chapter 53 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the members of the HRA shall be <br /> appointed by the mayor with the approval of the council. <br /> Mr. Martin has also served as a member of the Planning Commission and the Board of Appeals. <br /> Mr. Martin will comply with the sunshine law and does not have any potential conflicts.
